In the heart of Botswana’s Okavango Delta, at the renowned Duba Plains Camp, a touching wildlife moment unfolded that delighted onlookers. A mother lioness was seen cooling off in the water, a rare and fascinating sight for one of Africa’s most iconic predators. Lions typically avoid water unless necessary, but the heat of the day appeared to have driven this lioness to seek relief in the shallow, calm waters nearby.
Not wanting to be left behind, her young cubs quickly followed, attempting to join their mother in the water. However, due to their small size, they struggled to stand or swim comfortably. The water proved a bit too deep for the playful youngsters, and swimming became a challenge. After a few short attempts, they were forced to climb back out onto dry land.
